The Vikings challenged the seas and made it as the first Europeans cross fiery waters to “Vinland” (Canada) and Iceland, where the Danish and Swedish Vikings headed south to France and east to Russia and Istanbul.
The popular picture of a Viking is the helmet with horns and sword but, they were much more merchants and skilful seafarers, had a strong faith in gods as Odin and Thor. Their culture and especially handicraft were highly advanced. Admire their slender warships or the impressive wooden stave churches, still standing today. Dig into the Vikings, their history, their sagas and mindset and visit places like Oslo, Bergen etc with strong roots to the viking age.
