Sustainability has since years had a strong focus in Sweden. In Stockholm, you find the area of e.g. Hammarby Sjöstad who was one of the first urban projects that took the concept of sustainable development to a new level, closing the environmental loops and developing synergies between utilities, buildings and users. We also visit and lecture on Europe’s largest urban development of Norra Djurgårdsstaden building 12.000 new dwellings and creating 35.000 jobs – all with a sustainable profile.
Trust in each other and in the state describes Scandinavians. Flexicurity, low crime rates and the extensive social safety net make people feel safe.
