Intergenerational Programme

Intergenerational Programme

Client’s Objective

The American non-profit tour operator wanted to create a 8- day programme in Copenhagen for grandparents and grandchildren aged 9-14 that combined the two generations being together combined with sharing learning and exploring Denmark

BDP’s Solution

This programme is targeting a very specific group: grandparents and children, and so BDP had to tailor make a programme that embraces both the need of a senior and the need of a 9-14 year old child – and with being together as a strong focus. BDP carefully selected partners and suppliers and handpicked the group leader and the children’s assistant. It was important that they both had experience with both generations.  The programme was carefully put together in close cooperation with the client, and sites and places inspected prior to first departure.
The programme includes popular sights as Tivoli Gardens, UNESCO Kronborg Castle and Hans Christian Andersen’s Museum to Evening with local families, viking ship sailing and board game cafés and lectures for the seniors and paperclip activity for the children.

Results

  • All programmes – minus one has come out with NPS max score 100! (net promoter score).
  • Many participants have got new friends in Denmark or within the group.
  • The grandparents and grandchildren spent valuable time together and came home with a lot of experiences and new knowledge about Denmark and Scandinavia.

This case showed BDP Learning Expeditions ’s ability to understand the need of the client, and group participants requirement, use the network and local knowledge daily life and to give the grandparents and grandchildren unique experiences and time together

Client statement

The itinerary was well thought out: a good blend of urban and countryside activities, suitable for adults and children, with excellent guides. Denmark is an interesting and delightful country, with many educational and recreational opportunities.
