Earlier this year BDP Business Events got the most exciting task – to arrange a show for an incentive group, 600 persons, focusing on Danish history, culture and daily life. The result was a spectacular show in the legendary Tivoli Concert Hall. An actor in character of the World famous Danish fairy tale writer H.C.Andersen introduced the guests to Vikings, Elves and some of his own fairy tale characters. A team of artists from dancers to gymnasts, singers and acrobats, dressed in incredible costumes and combined with talented light designers created a show filled with drama, fun and love.

The performance, an original creation, was a big success – our client sent us the following email afterwards: “We are very satisfied and happy – thank you so much for all the support in Copenhagen! It was such a pleasure to work with you and your team.

When visiting Copenhagen you must try the famous Danish smørrebrød. Even better – what about making them yourself in new Nordic surroundings at Refshaleøen?

Restaurant Aamanns’ is famous for its modern interpretation of “smørrebrød” in Copenhagen. Their amazing and industrial venue at Refshaleøen offers a workshop on how to create tasty smørrebrød for groups. You can easily combine this with a conference or corporate gathering at the same location.

When Aamanns isn’t busy hosting workshops, they run a cafeteria where businesses located on Refshaleøen come to eat delicious smørrebrød for lunch. The open space creates an undeniable community spirit between the workplaces. People gather around the long wooden tables to enjoy smørrebrød – just like in the old days. As soon as everyone is gathered at Aamanns for lunch you hear the glasses clinking, the cutlery rattling, and the summing of conversation and laughter fills the room.

The building, which today holds Aamanns, is called “The Main Warehouse”, which was once used as the old B&W shipyard’s depot. With its rustic and raw atmosphere, it is easy to picture the old working environment. The well-preserved space makes this venue particularly special for groups to visit.

Celebrate your triumph in 28 meters height – Challenge yourself with Blocs & Walls

Do you want to try something completely out of the ordinary for the day? Blocs & Walls is located on Refshaleøen and is filled with colourful climbing walls. After a day of climbing why not celebrate your triumph in 28 meters height; with a view of Copenhagen’s skyline from the optical tower with a glass of champagne?

The story behind the building, which now holds Blocs & Walls, is very interesting. The hall is called “The Markup Hall” and is connected to “The Optical Tower”. When it was used for B&W’s shipyard, workers would mark steel plates for the ships by the markings that the projector in the tower 28 meters high provided.

It is possible to walk up the many flights of stairs to the top of the tower. From here you get an amazing view of Copenhagen. If you dare to walk all the way to the top of the optical tower, you also have the possibility of seeing the preserved marker used by B&W workers.

You decide if you want to spend the day unwinding on the climbing walls with your group or if you would like to combine it with a corporate meeting or conference on location. Your group will be paired with a number of guides helping you through the day as you attempt to climb the walls. Anyone from beginners to professionals can participate, as the walls offer different heights and difficulty levels.

Amass

Amass – an edgy gourmet dining experience

In the building called “The Workshop Store” elderly and disabled were sent to do less heavy and dangerous work in the B&W shipyard days. Now it houses one of Copenhagen’s most unique restaurants – and of course, it is located on the amazing Refshaleøen.

Stepping inside of the restaurant is a unique experience in itself. Their décor style is very modern and not something you will see often. The room is filled with concrete, while it has a very minimalistic Scandinavian touch.

Amass changes its menu very often, as they strive to use perfect ingredients, which are in season at the moment. When you dine at Amass, you are served a menu consisting of a variety of different delicious dishes, which can be accompanied with a wine menu. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner.

If you wish to occupy the entire restaurant it seats approximately 80 guests.

Wait till you see their outdoor kitchen garden, where the chefs collect ingredients for their tasty menus. It is so beautiful! Furthermore, the kitchen garden, which is visible from inside the restaurant has a campfire, which is lid every night for guests to enjoy the live flames.

A unique venue where it is possible to dine fancy, play volleyball, or jump straight in the water – whatever you prefer. Relax and enjoy a cocktail in the cabana as you watch the waves beat across the sea with wonderful Copenhagen as your primary view.

Halvandet entails all the raw and industrial details as the rest of the locations on Refshaleøen. However, Halvandet has accomplished to make their industrial halls and the outdoor area exclusive and elegant at the same time. This is a venue where it is just as appropriate to wear your bikini as it is to wear your most extravagant evening gown.

In the summertime, Halvandet is open for the public where it turns into a beach club with sunbeds, beach chairs, and the possibility of bathing in the ocean. As you enjoy a day at Halvandet music will be playing, the drinks will be cold and the food delicious. You probably won’t even believe you are still in Copenhagen when you see this place. Its atmosphere more resembles somewhere in the south; so combined with its distinctive industrial look – it truly is a place of its own.

The location is called “The Cable Halls” as they were used to produce cables once upon a time for the B&W shipyard. Halvandet consists of one very large hall and one smaller hall, which can be used for events.

Do you dare to do this?

At Urban Ranger Camp you use the same elevator, stair- and walkway during the activities, which existed during the shipyard’s existence. You are literally walking in the same steps as the B&W workers.

You can definitely expect to be challenged at Urban Ranger Camp. They have the world’s largest indoor high roping field. If you choose the high roping experience you will be doing rope activities in a height of 50 meters. The Royal Danish Theatres backdrop workshop uses the floor space for its many sets, making it even more exiting to be walking around above. We promise you that you will be able to feel your heart almost pounding out of your chest with excitement.

Otherwise you can choose team challenge activities, which are great to use for teambuilding or employee development. These activities will definitely also get your adrenaline running.

It is possible (when your pulse has slowed a bit down again – of course) to combine these activities with a corporate meeting or a small conference on location.

Urban Ranger Camp and Copenhagen Paintball share the location S1 and S2 at Refshaleøen. The biggest of the halls is S2 and has the impressing measurements of 150 meters long, 50 meters wide and 75 meters tall. Before B&W closed this large space was used to build sections for the gigantic B&W ships. Before the ships could sail off into Øresund they were assembled with these parts in the nearby dock.

Rainbow Tour: Walk in the footsteps of The Danish Girl

Ever wondered where the first ever registration of a homosexual couple took place? Did you know that a Dane was one of the first to undergo a gender reassignment surgery, marking a revolution for the LGBT community?

On this tour, your group will walk in the footsteps of “The Danish Girl” to experience the Danish transgender love story between Gerda Wegener and Lili Elbe up close. On a visit to the museum Arken, your group will see the famous Gerda Wegener’s colourful paintings of Lili Elbe, sensual and flirtatious women, inspired by carnivals and other entertainment.

Your guided tour continues on a stroll down the gorgeous cobbled streets of Copenhagen, where your group will discover the historic places from the film with their own eyes. Charming locations as seen on screen, such as the Nyhavn canal and the Royal Theatre are visited, bringing you close to the artist couple, Gerda Wegener and the transgender Lili Elbe, and their time spent together in Copenhagen. Along the way there will be stops at other spots significant for the LGBT community; refreshments are served at the world’s oldest LGBT bar, where after your guide will take you to the “Rainbow Square” and tell you about the first ever registration of a homosexual couple on 1 October, 1989.
